If you love to make people laugh and want to learn the tricks of the trade for stand up comedy join us for a full day Stand Up Comedy Workshop with the participants perform a Live Stand Up Comedy Routine later that evening to an audience of family and friends.
The Comedy Workshop will cover the following:
The science of laughter and why we laugh.
Developing a character for stage.
Sourcing material and writing it for yourself.
Shaping, editing and finalizing your material
Develop a 3-5min routine which will performed to a live audience later that evening

2021 Nextwave Youth Week Film Festival

To celebrate Youth Week, the community is invited to attend the Nextwave Youth Week Film Festival! Twenty of the best short films made by young regional Australian filmmakers will screen at 5.30pm on Saturday 24th April 2021 at the Civic Theatre. Entry is $5.00 with tickets bookable at in mid April. 

A program of Coffs Harbour’s Screenwave International Film Festival (SWIFF), the Nextwave regional youth film program is Australia’s largest regional youth short film competition open to any young creative aged 10-25, living outside of a metro area.
Each year young filmmakers submit creative short films ranging from comedies, dramas, thrillers and personal essays, created by a team of passionate storytellers. With over $40,000 in prizes up for grabs each year, Nextwave recognises acting, editing, cinematography and everything else that helps to build an amazing short film. In 2020, the sixth year of the competition, filmmakers expressed their creativity throughout changing restrictions in response to COVID-19, to make unique and exciting short films – and you can see the 23 finalists and winners on the big screen as part of Youth Week 2021 and support the next wave of young regional filmmakers.
